Hundred thousands Catholic died in persecution in Vietnam in 1798. Many Catholics refuge in the jungle near the place of Quang Tri a village in the central part of Vietnam. The persecution of the Catholics in Vietnam is because the Cảnh Thịnh Emperor restricted the practice of Catholicism, issued an anti-Catholic edict which the persecution began, fearing the spread of Catholicism across the country. While the people are hiding in the jungle they gathered every night to pray the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary but one night everything had change the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to the refugees wearing white surrounded by light and holding Jesus in her arms full of care, two angels were by her side she comforted the them and told them to boil leaves from the trees for medicine to cure the illness.
